Day 1/2 – Saturday and Sunday, Sep 21-22, 2019

US to Beijing

Today we depart the US and we will be on our way to the Far East.  Upon arrival, our local guide meets us and transfers us to our hotel to check in, freshen up, and relax from travel.  The remainder of the day is at our leisure.

Day 3 – Monday, Sep 23, 2019

Beijing

Today we walk around the 98-acres of Tiananmen Square, the site of the 1989 protest.   From there, we travel to the Imperial Palace (Forbidden City) and its museums.   First built in the 15th century, the Imperial Palace was the emperors’ residence of the emperors of the Ming and Quing dynasties.  To complete our day, we visit the Summer Palace.

Day 4 – Tuesday, Sep 24, 2019

Beijing

Today we visit the Olympic Village, and have a photo shoot with the now famous Bird Nest Stadium and Water Cube Aquatic Center featured in the 2008 Summer Olympics. We then visit the Great Wall of China, a tour highlight.  First built during 5th century BC, it meanders across the earth for 3,700 miles; over 300,000 people labored more than 30 years to accomplish this task.  This afternoon we visit the Underground Palace, and underground tomb of one of the Ming emperors, and the “Sacred Way of the Animals,” which guards the tomb.  Another tour highlight, tonight we enjoy a famous Peking Duck dinner and brilliant Martial Arts Kung Fu spectacular.

Day 5 – Wednesday, Sep 25, 2019

Beijing

This morning is a time for contemplation and exercise as we visit China's most photographed building, the Temple of Heaven.  Here we are able to join the Chinese in their morning exercise. After, we visit the Yonghe Temple, also known as the Lama Temple, a fascinating site that is the most renowned of Tibetan Buddhist temples outside of Tibet.  As clouds of incense billow above, Tibetan prayer wheels go round, frescoes abound, and beautiful arches and architecture showcase the one temple in Beijing that is a definitive must-see.  The afternoon experience is a very enjoyable bicycle rickshaw through a “Hutong” - one of Beijing's traditional old neighborhoods.

Day 6 – Thursday, Sep 26, 2019

Beijing to Xi'an

Today we transfer to the airport for our flight to Xi'an.  Xi'an served as the capital of 11 dynasties.   After arrival, we visit the 1,000 year old Wild Goose Pagoda and Shaanxi Provincial Museum.

Day 7 – Friday, Sep 27, 2019

Xi'an

Today we visit the life-sized Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses that were buried for over 2,000 years with the First Emperor of China - Qingshihuang. We continue to the Ancient City Wall and Old Quarter.   This evening we enjoy a dumpling banquet dinner followed by a very colorful Tang Dynasty Show that is a delight to see

Day 7 – Friday, Sep 27, 2019

Xi'an

Xi’an to Shanghai

This morning we transfer to the airport for our flight to Shanghai.   Upon arrival, we visit the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, located in New Pudong Area to enjoy the view of the downtown city.

Day 9 – Sunday, Sep 29, 2019

Shanghai

After our hotel breakfast, we begin our wonderful city tour by visiting Yu Garden with its pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds, and cloisters, each having unique characteristics. We pass through Old Shanghai area and later visit the Shanghai Museum, a silk factory, the Bund, Nanjing Road, and Xintiandi Old French Concession.

Day 10 – Monday, Sep 30, 2019

Shanghai to Home

This morning we transfer back to the airport for our journey home with wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

This morning we transfer back to the airport for our journey onward to Hong Kong.  We will enjoy a half day Hong Kong Island tour which includes Aberdeen, Victoria Peak and Stanley market.
